LEAGUE INFORMATION

The Greater Yakima Girl's Softball Association (GYGSA) is an organization providing opportunities for young ladies ages 6 - 14 to play recreational and competitive Fastpitch Softball in the Yakima Valley.

Who can play?

GYGSA is open to any girls ages 6-14, regardless of their city of residence.

Can I join even if I have never played softball?

Absolutely! We encourage all skill levels to join. Our leagues are built around girls playing with friends and having fun as well as learning the game and building skills.

 

How long is the season?

The GYGSA Softball League runs from Mid-May through June/July. Teams may schedule practices outside of this time frame.

How are the teams and age groups organized?

Teams are organized by players' year of birth. Each age group spans two years. When you hear someone say "8U", they are referring to the 8-and-younger league, and so on. Players may play up a league, but they cannot play down.

2024 Age Determination:

•   8U:   8 or under on Sept 1, 2023

• 10U: 10 or under on Sept 1, 2023

• 12U: 12 or under on Sept 1, 2023

• 14U: 14 or under on Sept 1, 2023

GYGSA does not organize teams. It is the responsibility of the player or parent to find or create their own team. The best places to find either a team or more players are:

Please note that most established teams host tryouts in the Fall.

What is the cost?

This will depend on the team that you join. The cost of practice space, jerseys, tournaments, etc will vary by team. Please reach out to individual coaches to determine the cost.  The team fee for the GYGSA Spring season is $___.00.
